Plants that are green should of course remain so. In this chapter we will explain to you how your flowering or tropical plant can be fed in the right way and thus become and remain healthy and strong.

Why it is good to feed your plant
Good nutrition is half the battle. That is why it is also good to know that your indoor or garden plant also needs nutrition. Your plant mainly needs this in its growth and flowering season (spring and summer).
By providing your plant with the right nutrition it will reward you with beautiful dark green leaves. Or, if it is a flowering plant, it will bloom beautifully!
Your plant is actually a bodybuilder
You can best compare the plant with a bodybuilder who is busy making his muscles bigger all week. The right nutrition is a must for growth. About 80% of the 'muscle' growth depends on nutrition! So of course your young plant cannot grow better if it does not receive the right plant nutrition!

What is the best nutrition for a plant
Every plant is different and has its own nutritional list of substances that make it grow faster.

Food for houseplants
Did you know that there are many nutrients on the market that do not help your plant to grow, but actually help it to die?
This is because they consist of compounds containing harmful chemicals. These usually ensure that the plant looks great for a few months, but will later become ugly. We therefore also recommend giving your houseplant universal food, such as Florentus. This will promote growth and increase root growth.

Food for palm trees
We often see palm trees along the road with ugly yellow leaves or all kinds of dead ends, while in the store they have a beautiful dark green color.
This is because palms (especially in pots) also need nutrition. This ensures that your palm tree will look beautiful again. Palms also do not like to receive all kinds of crazy substances that actually only give them a boost for a few months. We therefore also recommend our nutrition tablets. This is special nutrition that the growers in Spain also use. And is therefore completely organic, and it literally contains everything a palm tree needs. You therefore do not have to buy an extra palm booster or a root booster. No, it really contains everything your palm needs in terms of additional nutrition.

Food for olive trees
Olive trees are beautiful Mediterranean plants that sometimes need a sip of food, so that they keep their beautiful light gray leaves. For olive trees we recommend Olive Focus. This is liquid food specially made for olive trees.
Olive Focus ensures that your olive tree will look super beautiful and it stimulates root growth. Olive Focus is based on seaweed and is also completely organic.

Nutritional base, the basis, just as important as supplementary feeding
Good potting soil is the basis, because the plant has to grow and bloom in and on it. This is therefore super important for the plant!
There are many different types of soil that you can use for your plants. For example, take a palm tree. What kind of soil is best for the palm, so that it will grow optimally?
We explain this further here.
Potting soil for houseplants
With all the types of potting soil, you can't see the forest for the trees. We recommend using Groene Jan or universal potting soil for regular houseplants. This will promote the growth of your plant. Please note: this contains food for no more than a few months. If you want to be sure of a good supply of food, it is best to go for Florentus Houseplant Food Soil. This is of very high quality and therefore also has the 'Good Soil' quality mark.

Potting soil for garden plants
For regular garden plants, it is best to use Green Jan or another garden soil. But with Green Jan you are spoiling them, so that they are assured of good nutrition, which will make them more beautiful green and keep them that way.

Potting soil for Mediterranean plants
Mediterranean plants are not native to our small country and therefore require a specialized growing medium!
For Mediterranean plant species such as Yuccas, Olive trees, Palm trees, Agaves and Banana plants we recommend special Mediterranean potting soil. Whether you plant them outside in the garden, or indoors, or in the garden, it is best to mix the Mediterranean potting soil with the soil, so that your plant gets used to the soil around it. This will make it accept the new conditions faster and better, which will make it grow faster.
For Mediterranean plants we recommend DCM or Mediterranean potting soil from Florentus. This will ensure that your plant will grow and flower beautifully.

What is the best time to feed a plant
It is best to give your houseplants or garden plants liquid food in spring, summer and autumn. Additional feeding is also desirable at all times when it is warmer than normal. You do not need to feed your plant during the colder months, because it is then in a kind of rest period, and therefore does not have a strong desire for liquid food. However, it is always important that you provide your houseplant with the right nutrient soil in time!

When is the best time to repot your plant
The best time to repot your garden plant is in the spring. It could also be done in the summer months, but the best time is in the spring. With regular garden trees it is different. It is best to plant trees in the autumn months, so that they can grow nicely in the winter months. You can repot your houseplant in the spring, summer and autumn. It is possible in the winter months, but it is not really necessary, and the plant will have more difficulty recovering its roots during that period.
It is best to repot in a pot that is 2 to 6 cm larger than the old one.
